There are so many Mothers that want to breastfeed their children that have complications.  One of those complications can be not producing enough milk.  Although with my first two I produced plenty of milk with the help of pumping, I want to be sure I am able to produce plenty for baby Bethany.

While I had been introduced to lactation cookies, I didn’t fully understand how or why they worked.  You may have some questions like I did, so with the help of Milkmakers Lactation Cookies we can better understand just how lactation cookies work.  A big thank-you to Milkmakers for providing me with their lactation cookies to try out for this review.

What is a lactation cookie?

Milkmakers lactation cookies and mixes are seriously delicious and nutritious, made with natural key ingredients that can help BOOST your breast milk supply.

When a lactation consultant first told Emily about lactation cookies, she thought it seemed too good to be true.  How could it be possible to eat delicious cookies AND in turn increase her milk supply.  She was utterly surprised that she saw an immediate boost in her milk production.

Lactation cookies can help promote an abundant supply of breast milk.

Created by a mother who was in need of a boost in her own milk, Milkmakers was born.

What’s in Milkmakers cookies to make them special?

Milkmakers cookies are made with wholesome organic ingredients including oats, brewer’s yeast, and flax seed that can help increase breast milk production.

  • Oats are eaten by nursing moms worldwide to boost breast milk supply, and are a nutritional powerhouse, providing plenty of whole grains, fiber, iron, and an abundance of healthy vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
  • Brewer’s yeast is a traditional herbal remedy used to stimulate and increase the production of breast milk and is a rich source of the B-vitamins and amino acids essential for nursing moms and their babies.
  • Flax seed provides an abundance of omega-3 fatty acids, necessary for brain development, which can be passed from mother to baby through breast milk.

These ingredients work together to make Milkmakers a wholesome, beneficial treat for breastfeeding moms. When you eat Milkmakers lactation cookies, you get the nutrition you need to support your breast milk supply and you feel good about eating something so delicious, natural, and fresh that it could have come from your own kitchen (without spending hours there).

While I can’t attest to the milk production yet as I am still awaiting the arrival of my little one, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed trying the Milkmakers Lactation Cookies It’s a Mix, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.  (Side note that I am definitely swelling and my milk is getting ready to go!)  They were beyond delicious and I love that with the mix, you have control of how many you make and how large you make them.  The mix is meant to make 12-2oz cookies (or 4 Tablespoons of dough), but I prefer smaller cookies.

I think maybe it is a mental thing, but who stops at just one cookie?  Not me!

I love the ability to make the cookies smaller and then eat more than one!  If you don’t want to make them all at once, make the dough, form them into small balls and then freeze.  Then you have the ability to take out however many you want and eat them warm right from the oven, yum!

What about when I am pregnant?

After creating Milkmakers then it was only natural to create a delicious cookie that would also be nutritious for pregnant Mamas.  That is where Bump Boosters come into play.  They are created to be a nourishing, real-food snack made with wholesome ingredients like chia seeds, wheat germ, pumpkin and whole grains.   All packed full of beneficial ingredients and lots of vitamins.

I had the privilege to receive a Flavor combo pack in the Rainbow, so I received the mixed assortment.  I wanted to try them all, what can I say?

They are available in the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Morning Glory and my absolute favorite, Molasses Ginger.  While I did enjoy them all, the molasses ginger was my absolute favorite.  It reminded me of a cookie that my Granny made for me while I was lived down the road from her as a young child.  It has a deep rich flavor that is not overpowering but totally balanced and delicious!

I can honestly say that I have enjoyed each and every bite.  As my body continues to prepare for our little one’s arrival, I can honestly say I am very excited to try the Milkmakers lactation cookies to help my milk supply increase in the first few weeks of my little ones life.

Milkmakers is going to be a sponsor in our upcoming Bringing Home Baby giveaway event!  Be sure to come back on September 16th to enter to win your very own Milkmakers It’s a Mix and Bumpbooster cookies in our new Mama package.

Yeah, this is genius! Because when I wanted to go make my own I had to find those “special ingredients” that weren’t quite available at the local grocery store.
