Simple Garlic Hummus Recipe

Garlic Hummus recipeWhile I realize hummus is not for everyone, it is in our family.  I can eat it by the cup and the kids, they love hummus!  I am not sure if it is the creamy texture or the tangy flavor but we are hooked.  I never feel bad about how much hummus they eat since it is a healthy protein.

You can usually always find hummus in my fridge.  I use to purchase hummus weekly but why would you spend $4 on a tube when you can make it for $1 or less!  You need just a few simple ingredients and you can get started to making your own.

  • 1/3 cup of olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups of cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans) or 15-ounce can

Side Notes:  You can easily use dried chickpeas that you cook yourself to save money and avoid the extra junk that can come along with canned goods.  If you are only making one batch then cook 3/4 cup of dried chickpeas.  If you have never used tahini, it is a paste made from sesame seeds.  You can find it at most grocery stores or online.
