3 Ways to Decorate on a Budget

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of At Home for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

I can’t believe it has been an entire year since we moved into our house in town. A whole year has flown by and we still have rooms with walls unpainted, rooms with no doors or blinds and rooms with nothing on the walls yet. That is going to change however! This summer we are going to take a room a month (starting with the children’s room) and decorate it, make it there own. It is amazing how putting pictures on the walls and adding color makes a house feel like a home.

When we looked at this house, my favorite room was the window room, as the children called it. It is basically a sun room with windows lining two walls. I loved how bright it was. We talked about all the lunches we would enjoy there, the plants we would grow and the projects we would work on in that room. Well one year later and there it still sat, basically only being used for staging. That changed this week!

I had an idea of what I was looking for but having a blank slate, and being on a budget I knew would be rather difficult. With the challenge to create a space I loved we headed into At Home! Have you been into At Home? It is glorious 🙂 Anything you need to decorate your home can be found there. It is full of classic, fun, contemporary, eclectic, rustic, chic and everything else in between. Their new spring lines are to die for. I love spring for the color it brings and the new lines at At Home bring spring colors to life.

I seriously could have purchased everything, but I had to tell myself….I was on a budget! Even being on a budget, I was able to get some amazing pieces for my window room. The prices at At Home are very reasonable. We walked the aisles over and over again deciding on what pieces would we take home to become our own. In the end we left with some amazing finds!

Choose your core pieces in a neutral tone. As much as I wanted to go with the fun Aqua patio set, it would be much harder to decorate with the seasons or change later without bigger costs. Going with a neutral tone like white, bronze, black or silver will allow for more flexibility in the future. We choose to go with an At Home Patio black color table set so we could change with the season easily.

Access what you already own. A great way to save money is to shop from your own home! Look at what pieces you have that you could use to tie things together.

Purchase bright accent pieces in coordinating colors. Purchasing a few bright and bold pieces from At Home’s Outdoor Decor Collections was what I really needed to make my space pop! Adding in a bright rug, fun throw pillows and a few accent pieces on the table makes the room a bright oasis.

Here are the pieces I purchased from At Home and I think they all came together very nicely! I am not sure if the Solar lantern is my favorite or if I love all the pieces just as much but I do know we are on our way to being prepared for Outdoor Entertaining
