Fudgy Avocado Brownie Recipe

Avocado Brownies cut1

Who would have ever known that avocado and chocolate goes so well together?  This avocado brownie recipe is very thick and rich but is also dairy free and vegan!  Don’t think that is will come out tasting like avocado, my family didn’t even realize it was an ingredient.

Avocado Fudge Brownie Recipe

  • 1/2 avocado, mashed
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup sugar or sucanat
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 3 ounces dark chocolate, chopped

Avocado brownies ingredients

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Grease an 8 x 8-inch pan; I prefer coconut oil.

Avocado Brownies Ingredients 2

In a large mixing bowl, stir together your mashed avocado and coconut oil until combined.

Avocado brownies chocolate

Then add in all the remaining ingredients except the chocolate.  Mix the ingredients until you work out most of the lumps.  Fold in chocolate chunks.

Avocado Brownies Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it as evenly as possible. Bake for 20 to 23 minutes.

They will have a thicker consistency but be sure not to over bake or you will have more of a cake-like consistency.

Avocado Brownies Dusted in sugar

Allow to them to cool completely and if desired, lightly dust with powdered sugar.   Cut into 16 squares and enjoy!

  1. AMAZING!! I have 3 kiddos and they all love them and helped me make em!! we love avocado but if we didn’t great way to hide it!!

  2. Aside from guacamole, I have never had an avocado and I certainly wouldn’t have thought to put it in brownies, but I might just get daring enough to try it! It actually looks yummy! Thanks for sharing!

  3. I seriously need to try this! I will probably have to hide the avocado ingredient from my family though… they do not love it as much as I do. But I bet they would love it this way!
