I love goals. I love lists. When I sat down to start figuring out my focus for 2015 I had to sum it all up with one word, “balance”. I know that I am not alone when I say I feel like as a mom, wife, homeschooler, as an individual, I need some balance brought back to my life.
With each major change in life, getting married, moving to another state, having our first child, dealing with a major illness, having a second child, loosing a loved one and most recently, turning our family of four into a family of five, all required major adjustments. Finding a true balance is delicate task that is not easy to master, or at least not for myself. (If you have a secret, please share!)
I have found when I am able to achieve some balance, life seems to fall into place a bit easier. That is my overall goal for 2015. I want to realign my focus to what really matters, put my priorities in order and stop giving the mundane my time. The mundane things of life can be like a weed that grows and takes over to the point it chokes out our beautiful flowers. I have decided no more! I want those beautiful flowers to shine and receive all the attention they deserve.
That brings me to goals.
While I would love to say I can just add 8 more hours to my day, we all only have 24 hours a day. To accomplish anything we have to prioritize our time and I have to do a better job! Since I can’t add more time to my day, my other option is to cut down on what I am currently doing.
To begin, I have decided I am going to take on some help with tasks on the blog. It will allow me to spend more time on quality writing and less time on the business side.
Instead of staying up late and working after the children are in bed, I am going to turn in early and get up early. Many moms get up before their children to get a jump start on their day. Since my children get up with the chickens, I may not be able to get up before them, but they are now content with spending a little time in the morning playing before we start our day and I am going to take advantage of that to write. I am going to set a writing schedule so I can focus on my family and homeschooling during the day.
When I began blogging in December of 2010, I had no idea what blogging really was. I just started. It has led me down many paths. In 2015 I want to get back to blogging in a way that I am inspired to write. Create a blog that you want to read. Share projects and recipes and homemade hacks. Share what makes me tick.
Going back to my writing time, I need to start taking care of myself so I can take care of my family and my blog. I am making it a goal to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. I need it to be healthy and feel my best!
I don’t want my immune system unsupported, so I am going to make sure I am taking the right supplements. We all take multi-vitamins, including a whole foods supplement. Also, I find taking Ester-C from Walmart gives me vitamin C immune support.
Baby weight! Need I say more? I still have pre and post baby weight to shed and during 2015 I am going to work to diligently get to a healthy weight for me.
We love spending time together, but we want to schedule more activities together as a family. This will be the first year we schedule dates. Dates for Bryan and I, dates for us to take each of the kids out for one-on-one time and family dates.
Spend more time in Bible study together as a family. We have a family worship night, but our goal is to spend time together as a family in Bible reading and study.
Organization is key to success. Organizing and planning my priorities are the keys to achieving better balance in 2015. Before I take on any new responsibilities or work, I am going to analyze my schedule to make sure I am staying balanced. Easier said than done, but I am ready to take control again!
Now that I have shared some of my goals for 2015, I would love to know what you are focusing on this year?
