Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls – Freezer Recipe

cookie dough balls ready1Who doesn’t enjoy a warm chocolate chip cookie right from the oven?  Hands down, or both up I know I do!

Give me a warm cookie or two and a glass of milk and I am one happy girl.

With going into the final weeks of my pregnancy, I wasn’t clueless as to how difficult those first few weeks and even months would be.  This wasn’t my first time bringing home a newborn, nor my second but this will be my first time with two very active children, one of whom will be starting homeschool officially just about a week after we are expecting our new little one.

My goal was to try to get some of our favorites ready in the freezer to make my life a little easier.  Okay, so cookies are not a necessity but when you are having one of those cravings, you know for warm fresh cookies I want to be able to fulfill it without making a huge mess or devoting the time.  You don’t have to be pregnant to stock your freezer with freezer ready cookie dough, it is great to have on hand if  guests pop over unexpectedly or you just need to treat yourself.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls – Freezer Recipe

Makes about 8-9 dozen cookie dough balls

  • 4 1/2 Cups of Flour
  • or 3 1/2 Cups of Flour & 1 Cup of Oats
  • 2 Teaspoons of Baking Soda
  • 2 Teaspoons of Salt
  • 1 lb of Butter (4 sticks)
  • 1 1/2 Cups of Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Cups of Sucanat or Brown Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoons of Vanilla
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 2-4 Cups of Chocolate Chips
  • 1-2 Cups of Chopped Nuts or Dried Fruit (optional)

Cookie Dough balls ingredients

Combine your dry ingredients in one bowl.  This is a perfect job for your little one to help you with.  Then beat your butter, sweeteners and vanilla until they are creamy.  Add the eggs one at a time until combined.

Add in your dry mixture a cup or two at a time and mix until combined.  Then gently fold in your chocolate chips, nuts and other additions until just mixed.

Place your cookie dough into the refrigerator or freezer until nice and firm.   Once it has firmed, form into balls (I prefer smaller teaspoon size balls) and place them on a flat baking sheet or glass baking dish to flash freeze.

Once you form your cookie dough balls, place your cookie sheet in your freezer for about 20-30 minutes.  This will make them hard enough to remove from your dish, be placed into a jar or plastic bag and not stick to one another.

This allows you to take out just as many cookies as you would like whenever you wish to have freshly baked cookies in the house!

To bake them, preheat  your oven to 375 degrees.  Remove your cookie dough balls from the freezer and place onto a cookie sheet.  Allow them to sit at room temperature for at least 10 minutes and then bake for about 10-12 minutes and enjoy!
