Oral Care Tips and Last Minute Gifts from Colgate

There are always those in life that have circumstances beyond their control, many children and teens that are born into situations that they can not change, nor control.  I know of many and personally live with the consequences daily with my own family as a result.  When I see others flourish, despite their circumstances and try to make the best with the hand they have been given, it warms my heart.

Close to Home and Heart

We have a young friend who was being raised by her grandparents and recently her world was shook by loosing her grandmother.  Having lost my own Mother recently, I know just how hard it can be to deal with loss.  I however am an adult with my own family, not relying on someone else to care and guide me.  Miss B has done remarkably well and we are so proud of her.

I have always known she loves music.  After spending some time with her and the kids last week, I was reminded just how much as she and Addie sang together during most of our drive.  This week when I found out I was going to be able to shop for a very special oral care package that involved music, I knew just who it would be going to!

Colgate has released their Colgate Holiday Gift packs featuring One Direction.  I knew it would be a great gift idea (along with some of their music) for a little way to tell her how much we care.  Just coming from the dentist himself with his first round of oral surgery from a cracked tooth, we had just discussed the importance of oral care.  Oral care is such an important topic and can be quite simple.

Here are five basic tips to encourage good oral health.

  1. Brush twice daily.
  2. Floss every day.
  3. Limit the number of times you snack.
  4. Drink water between meals over juice, milk and soda.
  5. Visit the dentist regularly, twice a year.

Austin and I together headed to Walmart to pick out new toothbrushes for the entire family, along with a special One Direction gift pack for Miss B.  We headed to the health and beauty section of the store to check out what they had to offer.  Of course, the selection is huge.  While I am not a big fan of using marketing towards children, I am all for the kids having a toothbrush that encourages them to use it!

Austin picked out Dora the Explorer Colgate toothbrushes for him and Addie.  Along with ones for Bryan and I.  We looked all over the store for the One Direction packs that this Walmart store was supposed to carry, even down the aisles full of stocking stuffers and gift baskets but we didn’t find any.  I knew once I got home I could look them up online to see if the One Direction packs were available at another store close to us.  To see my full shopping experience, check out my #1DSmiles Google+ album.

The kids had a great time adding our gifts for Miss B into a gift bag and were so excited to take it to her.  I know that oral care products may seem like an odd gift to some, but truthfully, I have always been such a practical giver and Colgate toothbrushes and toothpaste make awesome last-minute gifts, especially for younger ones and teens when they receive a themed pack of someone they are a fan of!

Colgate has a section of their website that offers so many practical tips for oral care.  To connect with them online, visit their Colgate site, Twitter and Facebook.
