For my children, it doesn’t take a whole lot to get them excited. I LOVE that they find joy in the little things. When they found out we would be hosting a coloring party on behalf of Gerber Lil’ Beanies, they asked, “Can we have balloons?” As soon as I said yes, they were ecstatic!
We love to host parties, but this would be our first since adding our newest addition to the family. I sat down and pulled open Pinterest and took a deep breath. Then I took a step back. At this stage we are in life, I told the kids we were going to go simple with this party. We first discussed what type of party we would have. After several options we decided a coloring party would be fun!
Next we talked about decorations. After lots of ideas, I reminded the kids that we were going to go with simple decorations. Since we would be having a coloring party, we settled on decorating in fun, bright colors.
Previously we would have gotten crafty and made all the decorations, but we headed to the store to find a bright, fun pendant banner and bright balloons! We found something just perfect!
Finally the topic of food came up. You can’t have a party without good food right!?! I was so thankful my children requested easy and overall healthy items that didn’t require much prep time. I usually let each of them choose one or two things and then try to build our menu around them if at all possible.
Addie requested cupcakes she could frosting, Austin requested carrots and strawberries and Miss B, well she asked for hummus and chips. To fill out the snacks I tried to add several other brightly colored fruits and veggies, organic juice boxes and of course, the new Gerber Lil’ Beanies.
As I started setting up the table, the girls quickly claimed a can each of the original Sea Salt flavor. They have the texture of a (very unhealthy puffy chip snack) but are made from beans and rice flours! What sold me on Gerber’s Lil’ Beanies? First off, they are made from non-GMO ingredient; that is extremely important to my family. They come in two flavors, Sea Salt and White Cheddar & Broccoli, with no artificial colors or flavors.
The Sea Salt flavor is even dairy-free! Another score with my family, as 3 of my 4 have dairy allergies. I love that they are not just an empty snack like a regular chip, but they are providing actual nutritional value. Since our immediate and extended family include so many little ones, these are perfect for playdates and on the go snacks for little hands. I love that they are available Walmart at just the right price, under $2.00.
Miss B loved them so much, she was caught red-handed with her hands not just in the canister, but taking the canister so she didn’t have to share her Gerber Lil’ Beanies.

Next came all the fun! With balloons, loads of fun Usborne Books & More coloring books and fun props, it didn’t take long for the chatter, giggles and full on laughter to take over. The tables were covered with art paper so the children could create masterpieces everyone could enjoy.
Instead of goodie bags, each child was able to choose a coloring book of their own to take home, colored pencils and crayons are a great addition as well. I tried to have enough of a variety for all the little ones 2+ up to 8 that would be attending. The problem was deciding which they would choose.
Although as parents we want to create these events we think our children will love. The reality is, they don’t need much to be happy.
With a few snacks, balloons, coloring books and great friends, memories are made that will long be remembered after party decorations come down.
