Create Beautiful Ambiance With an Up-Cycled Lantern from Word Couture #noisegirls

Wine Goddess

Looking to add a special touch to your dining table or for a unique up-cycled gift?  Then a beautiful up-cycled wine bottle lantern may be just what you are looking for! Made using up-cycled wine bottles, Word Couture’s wine bottle lanterns are made by hand with each being slightly different and unique varying on the type of bottle being used! Ambiance

When I stumbled across the beautiful up-cycled wine bottle lanterns from Word Couture, I fell in love with how they looked but even more so with the story about how this family business came about.

Word Couture began in 2010 when this husband and wife team saw the gorgeous wine bottles that were being thrown out at their local wine bar–right along with the trash!  After doing a little digging (quite literally), they found out that most restaurants, bars and vineyards do not recycle their used wine bottles!  Wine bottles can be absolutely gorgeous and, they felt, should be up-cycled in some way.

After doing some brainstorming and using their creative juices, they came up with the idea of removing the bottoms of the bottles and using them as a lantern.  Then they customize them with Monograms or short sayings.

Keep Calm and Drink Wine

At Word Couture, they turned their love of the environment and love of making beautiful things into a unique treasure.  I love that they have turned their up-cycling adventures into a family affair, with her hubby even scouting out the dumpsters for beautiful bottles on the weekends!   As a work at home, even their 4 & 5 year olds know the difference between a Burgundy and a Bordeaux shaped wine bottle!  They are excited about sharing their business and the fact that they are able to create something so beautiful from something that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.

Word Couture’s beautiful wine bottle lanterns have been featured in Glamour Magazine and Brides Magazine as well as been a swag contributor at the 33rd Annual Sports Emmy Awards!

I was privileged enough to be able to receive the Live, Laugh, Love lantern and it is truly beautiful!

  1. These are so original and gorgeous. I would be proud to have one displayed in my living room. What a fresh idea.

  2. I am so glad to see these coming back! Years ago (in the 70s) there was a huge thing about doing the bottle cutting and bottles of all kinds. There was some etching done but it wasnt in the kits to do the cuttings!

  3. These are so fun! You can have so many cute sayings and this would make a great gift as well, plus it’s a great way to recycle.

  4. What a great idea, I remember as a child we had a bottle cutting kit that we would use to make tea candle holders. I love all of the wonderful sayings they have.

  5. I love these bottle lanterns. But since there’s no base, do you need to use the kind of candle that doesn’t drip? Are the bottles top heavy?

    1. They actually come with a battery operated candle but I have used a small glass votive holder to contain them also. No, I don’t find it top heavy at all. It rests really nicely just like a regular bottle.

I love that they’re taking bottles that were otherwise being thrown away and selling them (with a little work involved) as classy decorations!

We love everything wine. When we renovated our kitchen we did it around the wine concept entirely. This would be an awesome addition to our home!

  8. I love how the entire family gets involved–it’s always great to support a family owned business!

  9. These are fabulous. Now I’m going to see if I can figure out other jars that I could make lanterns with Go DYI

  10. Very creative, it just shows you can create something beautiful from something you would have just tossed.

  11. Love when items are upcycled! I wish I could think of creative ways to recycle like this! I think these lanterns are gorgeous and would look great in my dining room or my kitchen… or both!
