For children with food allergies, being able to have the same or similar treats is really a struggle. I do not want them to feel any different from others just because their bodies can not process certain foods. As a parent, I try to make sure whatever I make in our home, everyone can enjoy. Cakes and sweets are no exception.

With a few simple adjustments, you can turn almost any cake into a dairy free cake. I love me some coconut oil! But in the case of Angel Food cakes, they usually are always dairy free and light and delicious!

Dairy Free Angel Food Cake Recipe

INgredients

12 large egg whites (or about 1 1/2 cups)
1 1/4 cup powder sugar
1 cup flour
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Place the egg whites in a large mixing bowl, and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Mix both the sugars together in a until well combined. Set aside.

In the bowl with the egg whites, add the vanilla extract, cream of tartar and salt. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture with the egg whites on slow for 2 minutes.

On medium speed, slowly begin to add the sugar. Continue beating continuously until all the sugar is dissolved and stiff peaks begin to form.

Gently spoon the batter into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Turn the cake pan over onto an elevated cooling rack and allow the cake to cool for at least 1 hour before trying to remove the cake from the pan.

Now the fun part, eating it! Our family’s favorite way to enjoy Angel Food cake is served with fresh or frozen berries and a little ice cream. (The girl’s favorite dairy-free variety is the Vanilla Almond milk from So Delicious!)

  1. This recipeneeds editing. First of all there’s no direction about the flower. Second of all nothing will make stiff pics if it has sugar and flour in it. He just ruined everything I had left in my kitchen I have to make it all again.
