Discover Small Family-Owned Wineries with the California Wine Club

This was my second month I was privileged to receive a 2-bottle wine shipment from the California Wine Club.   Who wouldn’t love to have two bottles of wine show up on their door step once a month?  If you are not familiar with the California Wine Club, let me give you a brief history of how this all began.

In 1990 a husband and wife team, Bruce & Pam Boring were frustrated about finding truly great wines.  The California Wine Club started small, as a word of mouth wine club that would come backed with their own recommendations.  Since they started small, they would hank-pick every wine they featured, after all they were recommending them!  They personally meet each and every winemaker and the families that support them and select two of their very best wines.  Even after their growth and years later, this is still something they hold true to.

With each shipment, you will receive a issue of Uncorked.  In the magazine you will find out up close and personal details about the wines in your shipment and the winemakers behind them, delicious food pairings, history, recipes and so much more information.  I especially love the pairings and the details about how each wine is made.

This month I was privileged to receive a shipment from the Daniel Gehrs Winery.  I received a bottle of Merlot and Chenin Blanc.  The Merlot is the perfect combination for a prime rib or other hearty beef dinner with earthiness and hints of cranberry and blueberry.  The Chenin Blanc carries the aroma of wild flowers and honey with the crisp notes of pear.

The Chenin Blanc was the first bottle opened and I actually used part of the bottle to prepare this Bolognese Recipe.  It smells divine, thanks to the aroma of the wine and tastes such as delectable as well!

If you are drinking this wine, it pairs perfectly with chicken dishes, Asian foods and white fish.  We will be finishing off the bottle tonight with a Chicken and Quinoa dish.

Discover For Yourself

The California Wine Club offers four delicious clubs to choose from.  They start in price at $49.95 for a two bottle Signature Club shipment.  Every wine they feature comes from a real working artisan winery and is backed by their 100% guarantee!

  2. I would live to try the premier club series. I am not a Hugh wine drinker just because I have not been exposed to many different kinds. This article was very interesting and informative. Thank You
