I received a media rate to share my honest thoughts and opinions with you about my stay at the Drury Inn. I was in no way obligated to give a positive review. All opinions are as always, 100% my own.
When my family had decided not to take our trip to Disney World as a result of finding out we were pregnant, I knew I still wanted to get away. I still wanted to have some time to go and relax and just enjoy each other. Although it wouldn’t be any warmer, we choose Saint Louis, MO because of the distance and what the city offered.
We had been to Saint Louis once before for a short trip and we knew we wanted to head back. We had our agenda of where we wanted to visit, The Saint Louis Zoo, The Saint Louis Science Center & Planetarium, The Arch and The City Museum. Now that we knew where we wanted to go, we had to decide now where we were going to stay. We considered staying close to the zoo but finally decided to stay downtown, close to the Arch. After reading review after review we settled on the Drury Inn. They have multiple locations in Saint Louis as well many local vacation packages where you can receive free tickets to several of the attractions.
We choose the Drury Inn & Suites Convention Center. There is a beautiful entrance when you walk into the front doors. I was greeted with very helpful staff that were extremely kind. We checked in on a Sunday evening so the hotel was fairly empty.
They were so kind to place us very close to the elevators and right across from the area that breakfast, snacks and the Kickback is served, that was a huge plus!
Drury Inn’s offer their guests free hot breakfast. Each morning a slightly different variety of hot food was served. Of course there were normal continental breakfast foods also, muffins, pastries and cereals but there was also bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy and many other options. It is always great to start the day with a breakfast that is hot and it with a family, it saves a great deal of money.
At the 5:30 Kickback, I was told that there would be free hot food & cold beverage. I assumed there would be appetizers and snacks, but that was not the case. Each evening there was enough variety that you could really make a meal off of what was served. There was always more than one hot food choice such as chicken strips, hot dogs, baked potatoes, macaroni and cheese, a pasta variety and other choices. There was always vegetables, including salads served as well as chips and salsa, pretzels, nachos and so much more! You are given a card upon arrival and can also receive free alcoholic drinks during the kickback as well. I was not able to benefit from this amenity but was okay with that.
The kids loved that their was also free popcorn & soda in the lobby daily. They didn’t benefit from the soda but enjoyed the milk and popcorn!
Since I had just started taking my strong medications for the baby, some days were rather rough for me. It was nice that even staying in the hotel in the evenings didn’t require that the kids were stuck in the room. We were able to wander the atrium, they ate their popcorn and we just relaxed.
Everything about our stay was wonderful. One day I was experiencing severe morning all day sickness, and they were amazing about bringing what I needed, no matter what time it was. With traveling with our two children we choose two double beds. You never sleep as good away from your home as you do in your own bed. The beds were very comfortable but I enjoyed the pillows even more. There was a nice sitting area, perfect for the little bit of work I did while away.
The bathrooms had been upgraded and remodeled recently and were a beautiful granite. I loved that the hotel is working to make small changes to be greener, one of which was to do away with the travel size bottles and offer a wall dispenser in the shower. Small changes add up to big differences.
We will be headed back to Saint Louis again in the future and will be more than happy to have another stay at any Drury Inn location. To see if there is a Drury Inn near your vacation destination, visit their website. I also would highly recommend looking at their vacation packages as well. They offer great rates and be sure to look at their vacation packages to take advantage of special attraction offers or even free passes in many cases.
