Family Fun Scavenger Hunt with #MarvelAvengersWMT #CBias

Want to take a fun family treasure hunt? The Avengers Blu-Ray/DVD Release date was on September 25th and Walmart is celebrating with a secret scavenger hunt!  Utilizing the cool Avengers Augmented Reality App you can unlock super cool features just by finding trigger points throughout the store.

I was a little shocked by the lack of signage for the Avengers at the front of the store, which is where one of the trigger points should have been but we had a great time searching the store to see what we could find.

I was amazed by the amount of Avenger items I could find. We found bedding, large oversized stuff dolls, toys, costumes, party supplies, stickers, clothing, you name it, they had it!  As we got closer and closer to the toy section, we found even more Avenger items.

On the huge store display with all the movie options was our first trigger point.  It is pretty cool as it unleashes characters!  We were looking over the options from just a DVD and the DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack.  In the end we decided to go with The Exclusive Avengers Blu-Ray/DVD/Graphic Novel Combo Pack for $24.96.  It is an exclusive pack that offers a limited edition graphic novel (which is pretty cool).

We decided we would get a pizza because what goes better with a movie than pizza?  I had already seen the pizza boxes so I knew that it was another trigger point for the Avengers Augmented Reality App.   Although this isn’t a great photo, you can get an idea of what happens.  The kids loved it!

After we searched around the store we were really disappointed that we couldn’t find more trigger points. We looked at in all the areas that we thought we would have found them but only found two.  I guess we wont unlock the character we would be at the end of the app.  That didn’t stop the kids!  Either way, we had a great time searching the store for the trigger points and the kids had a blast wearing the Avengers!   Can you believe that is my beautiful daughter under that Hulk mask?

Here are a couple of points to look for the trigger points in your store:

  • Shopping Cart Rail Signage (at store entrance)
  • Advertisements on security sensors at store entrance
  • Toy New Release End Cap
  • Blu-Ray/DVD Pallets or Blu-Ray/DVD Extravaganza
  • Costume Pallet
  • Content Stickers
  • Apparel
  • MarketSide Pizza at Walmart Deli

After picking up a few pairs of knee socks for a project it was time to head out. We headed to the checkout lane and Austin was excited about his pizza. They had the MarketSide pizzas in a meat lovers, pepperoni, cheese and supreme. The pizzas really are very large, which we don’t mind since we always like leftovers.  Austin choose pepperoni very quickly.

Once we got home, we actually spent some time talking about what super powers we would want to have if we were a super hero.  After talking for a while, Austin decided he would want to be able to heal sick people.  He even drew a picture of what he thought he wold look like if he had a super power.  Be sure to check out all of our shopping and family fun in my Marvel Avengers #MarvelAvengersWMT Google+ Album.

We got together with our Auntie and Uncle Johnny to have pizza and a movie.  Uncle Johnny is a huge Marvel fan!   The graphic novel that is included is super cool and would be a great gift for any Avenger fan!

There will be a special Avengers Character Appearances in select Walmart stores on Saturday, September 29, 2012.  Although there is not one close to where I live, you don’t have to miss out on the Avengers fun!  Be sure to check out Marvel.com, follow @Marvel on Twitter, and like Marvel on Facebook!

  1. I’m sorry to hear you couldn’t find all the App triggers you needed to fully experience the App but sounds like you turned your Avengers adventure into a really positive experience for your family! Thanks so much for sharing your Avengers fun!

    1. We didn’t find them but we did have an awesome time! We will be in another town next week and hope we can discover the rest!
