This post is part of the HEALTHY ESSENTIALS® 2014 program by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. and The Motherhood, who sent me a box of products and compensated me for my time. Opinions, experiences and photos shared here are all my own, and I hope you enjoy them.
I will be the first to admit I think I am somewhat of a nervous Mama. I think we all deep down want to protect our babies as much as we can. With that said though, they need to be kids. While going through some of our DVDs this week, Addie came across a family video that was compiled for my parent’s 25th wedding anniversary. One of the songs playing in the background sings, “Let them be little, because their only this way for a while. Give them hope, give them praise, give them love everyday, but them be little.” Ok, so that may not be the exact wording but you get the idea.
We decided back when we sat down to create our summer 2014 bucket list our focus would be to turn moments into Memories! That is what we have done thus far and will continue to do.
Last week we headed out to spend the afternoon visiting Blanchard Caverns State Park. It is beautiful! We didn’t visit the caverns this trip but planned to take in the beautiful outdoors.
We took the walking path back to the waterfall that flows from the caves. We stopped along the way to just listen to the flowing water.
We explored the plant life and posed for a few photos.
Despite the waterfall being small in size, the water flows at an astounding rate. The water is clear and the kids minds were full of questions about where the water originated from. Every moment of every day can be turned into a learning adventure.
Our next stop was Mirror Lake. This is a favorite spot for fisherman but how can you not want to stop and take in the beauty? It was an overcast day, but still beautiful none-the-less.
We really had planned to call it a day but the children begged to visit the swimming hole. Thanks to our first 2014 summer vacation to Florida, both the children have developed a love of swimming. Not planning to swim, we didn’t have suits but decided we would capture the moments and make those memories! We rolled up our pants and planned to play in the swallow areas.
The kids splashed, laughed, chased minnows and had a blast. These are the moments I would like to engrain in my mental camera. The moments of uncontrollable giggles, that smile that spans from ear to ear, the warmth of the sun as I watched my children grow and explore.
Before long they were in neck deep. It didn’t matter that they were not prepared for swimming, we are always prepared with the essentials we need to protect our skin so we can seize the moments and enjoy the beauty that shines in the state of Arkansas.
