Justin’s began back in 2004 when he started using a food processor in his home kitchen, making small batches of nut butter. First he gave them to family and friends and then began selling his homemade nut butters to natural food stores in Boulder, Colorado. Justin’s Nut Butter has grown significantly over the last 8 years and is now available nationally at many retailers, with quite a fan base I may add.
Just because the company has grown, doesn’t mean his standards have changed. They only use the highest quality natural and organic ingredients that are sustainably harvested and found as locally as possible. The nut butters are still made in small batches to preserve premium quality standards and delicious taste. As a company they are mindful of their business practices by working toward reducing their environmental footprint on the natural environment.
The Dirt on Nuts
I love that they have a section on their site under the Green category, The Dirt on Nuts! You can trace the ingredients of all their products from their origin to final destination. Then they breakdown each product and show their carbon footprint and the offset amount they have paid for each product. They only say that they want to reduce their impact but they have follow through and are actually doing it! In an effort to minimize their carbon footprint their hazelnuts are sourced from Oregon instead of Italy.
Justin has been on a quest to make his squeeze packets recyclable for years. Although they are just not there yet, their jars are 100% Post Consumer Recycled!
The Products
So now that I have introduced you to the company, what do they make? Yummy, delicious, tantalizing nut butters! Oh, and lets not forget the melt in your mouth peanut butter cups too! These are not just your average nut butter. You may say peanut butter is peanut butter and almond butter is almond butter, but I am sorry to say, you are wrong! (At least in my opinion that is!)
Nut Butter Flavors:
- Chocolate Almond
- Maple Almond
- Honey Almond
- Classic Almond
- Chocolate Peanut
- Honey Peanut
- Classic Peanut
- Chocolate Hazelnut
Which flavor would you like to try? I would say right now we are digging the Chocolate Almond Butter!
They also make delectable organic milk chocolate and dark chocolate peanut butter cups! All their products are gluten-free and Kosher! The Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups are dairy-free and vegan but the milk chocolate are not. All the nut butter are vegan with the exception of the Honey butters.
Our Opinions (from my dear sister Jenny)
Justin’s Vanilla Almond Nut Butter
WOW! This stuff rocks. Our family has many intolerances…many of those intolerances
involve food. All members of our household do not eat Gluten. Soy has become a new
offender for us too. Justin’s Vanilla Almond Nut Butter is a perfect solution for us. It has
tremendous flavor. A few spoons full of it and I feel satisfied; my hunger is satisfied. My
Husband can eat a third of a container in one sitting. I have to keep it hidden or the rest
of us do not get to enjoy it.
We also enjoy traveling and not too many places are able to help us with our food
requirements. Having Justin’s Nut Butters with us proves to be very helpful. We all love
the flavor and it is awesome on Gluten free bread or by itself.
Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups
They are a great product. They are great for those in our family that have allergies
to Gluten. These cups are tasty in the milk and the dark chocolate. We were really
surprised at the taste, they don’t last long around here.
We are fortunate to have found a candy that we can actually eat. Most candy, if not all,
have so many fillers that our family cannot eat them. Thank you Justin’s for helping us
have a tasty treat.

the chocolate almond sounds delicious
Oh my goodness I want one of each! I love peanut(any nut) butter!
First of all, I love that they explain to you the entire process of the making of their products, that’s wonderful. I will tell you, I’m allergic to nuts, every single one of them. However, my mother is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and I’m absolutely going to go check out Whole Foods and see if I can find them for her
I haven’t tried the Justin’s products yet but I would love to! I really love that they have so many different flavors. I’d like to try the almond maple in cookies or even truffles. Yum!
I like the Justin’s products anyway, but thinking about them being gluten and dairy free adds yet another reason to keep them in mind with all of the emerging sensitivities, I like to be prepared 🙂
Maple almond is my favorite!
I recently discovered sunflower seed butter. It’s amazing!!!

I love the variety presented above in the review. I always worried about nut butters…..whether or not it would taste good, or because it was good for you, whether it would taste like chalk. This review really, really, really makes me hungry and want to try the products!
I love that these have nuts other than peanuts.
I would love to try both the chocolate hazelnut and the plain almond butter.
Oh, my, the chocolate almond nutter butter sounds amazing! My husband would love this!
I really like that someone made nut butters in different flavors! What an idea—gotta try some of these
