Planning Family Meals Made Easy with a Meal Plan

You know that time of day, when little ones start telling you they are once again hungry, everyone is slightly tired and grouchy.  It is 4:30pm and you have to figure out what you are going to throw together to feed your family that not only tastes good but is also nourishing.  Some days, it works out fine, other days, well not so much so.  Even if it does work out fine, it can be stressful.  And to be honest, I don’t enjoy stress.

Before Miss Bethany came along, meal planning was second nature.  I didn’t go grocery shopping without a list made from a meal plan.  I had a strict budget and stuck to it.  It took a little extra time to create a meal plan around what was on sale and search for coupons but in the end, it saved me time.  Before I went to bed I would prep for the next days meals.  I didn’t have the last-minute panic of what can I throw together.

Being more organized and meal planning is once again going to become a huge part of my life in 2015.  This is my second week of creating a meal plan, although I never got around to post last week.  My goal is to try one new meal each week.


So here goes, this is what is going to be on our table this week:


Pancakes and Scrambled Eggs and Canned Peaches

Baked Peanut Butter Oatmeal and Bananas

Blueberry Muffins with Clementines

Leftover Oatmeal with Hard Boiled Eggs and Apple Slices

Homemade Breakfast Burritos with Bananas x 2

Banana Bread with Fruit Smoothies


Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup with Toast

Lentil Soup

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Leftovers x 3


Crockpot Chicken with Rice and Green Beans

Chicken and Corn Chili with Homemade Rolls

Honey Lime Shrimp and Broccoli over Rice

Navy Beans and Ham with Fresh Veggies and Cornbread

Baked Pork Loin with Mashed Potatoes, Steamed Broccoli and Apple Sauce

Quinoa Chili with Homemade Saltines

BBQ Chicken with Sweet Potatoes and Garden Salad

Most of the meals I make are very easy meals.  One thing I have found is that my family actually prefers simple meals.  No matter how simple they are, I have found without planning I am lost.  Planning family meals is such a sanity saver.   I am making a commitment to once again get back to meal planning.  Will you join me?
