Recipe: Organic Alfredo Sauce Recipe with Cost Breakdown

I have to tell you watch out, this is very addicting!  I love to make Alfredo pizza’s with this recipe but you could also just make the Alfredo sauce and put it over some whole wheat pasta for a very delicious meal!  You could also serve this with bread sticks for a delicious appetizer.

Ingredients:
2 Cups of Cream
1 Stick of Butter
Clove of Garlic Minced
1 Cup of Parmesan Reggiano Cheese (or just Parmesan Cheese if you prefer)

Melt the butter over medium low heat.  Add your cream, minced garlic and grated cheese.  Stir until cheese is melted.  Simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes to allow to thicken, stir occasionally.

This is so simple but so delicious!  Here is the cost breakdown:

  • 2 Cups of Cream-$3.39 Organic Valley @ Whole Foods
  • 1 Stick of Butter-$1.00 Organic Butter @ Kroger ($3.99 lb)
  • Clove of Garlic Minced-$.15 Organic @ Wal-Mart
  • 1 Cup of Parmesan Reggiano Cheese-$1.37 @ Whole Foods

Total for ingredients in this recipe: $5.91

I use full price for the cost breakdown so you could see what it would cost if you went to the store to purchase these items to make this recipe.  I usually never pay full price myself.  I get cream on my milk that I get for $3.00 gallon.  I get enough cream with the gallon to usually make this recipe or purchase the cream on sale with a coupon.
