Having a Blast Celebrating #SnackMadness & College Basketball

It is the little things in life that create memories.  When we moved back to Arkansas I totally forgot how important the Razorbacks were to everyone.  And when I say important, I mean they eat, sleep and breathe Razorback Red!  Of course for me, I am up for getting together with friends and family whenever time allows so and game time or College Basketball Tournament is an awesome time to throw a party!

Bryan works with mainly Arkansans so there is no contest as to who they root for, Razorbacks all the way!  We also have a few Michigan State fans (my sister has been a MS convert since marrying one five years ago).  For us girls though, it is more about getting together and having fun!  The guys, well although Hubby has his favorites, there aren’t many sports games that he doesn’t enjoy watching.

Since I am a mainly work-at-home Mama, we decided we would throw an office party for Hubby!  Although the day of plans changed a bit so we decided to host the lunch at my sister’s house close-by and then head back to the office with a few of the goodies after lunch.

To get us all decked out for the party, I headed to Walgreens to find some great deals on all the munchies we would need for our office party.  On the list were Hershey’s Reese’s that I would need to make my basketball court cake, Kettle Chips, Cheddar Popcorn, Coca-Cola, Coke Zero and all the paper products we would need. I love that I could quickly run in and out of Walgreens and they had all the basics I would need.  You can see my full #SnackMadness shopping experience in my Google + album.

To keep it simple we got a variety of sandwich fixings to go with all our snacks.  We had a chance to quickly grab a few a minutes of a game that was playing while we enjoyed our lunch, it so happened to be a Michigan State game so there were some that were more happy than others!

To keep up with the festive activities, I attempted to make a cake that resembled a basketball court.  I didn’t do well with my piping but otherwise was happy at how it turned out.  It really wasn’t hard to make and the kids had fun helping me put together the Reese’s peanut butter cup basketball players.

We all had a great time and even those that only had a few minutes to break away from the craziness at work got to munch on the goodies from our SnackMadness party!

  1. OMG, yum. My husband and I are exercising and trying to lose weight, and he walked by as I was reading this…he said, “Who made that? Does she hate us?!” Haha. Clearly, the cake looks good to us. Thanks for all the tips. 🙂

    1. The cake was good but the frosting was really rich! I will be sharing the recipes/directions soon! And totally understand the loosing weight, although I can’t now being pregnant, we will be back on the wagon as soon as I can!

  2. Ok, I don’t care really about March Madness but I do love that cake! I need that here 😉

We are in Fort Smith through April 14th and everyone is big Razorback fans. It is everywhere! 🙂
