Last month we headed off to the state to the North of us for a fun-filled family vacation in Missouri.   Saint Louis has so many awesome attractions for families.  I was experiencing severe mourning sickness at the time but was determined to make the most of it.  We had cancelled our trip to Walt Disney World once we found out I was pregnant and starting having complications.  While Saint Louis is not Walt Disney World, we had a blast with what we did!

Here are the highlights:

On the first day we visited to Saint Louis Science Center!  It is free to visit the Science Center, although we got to do all the fun extras as well.  It was an amazing day, the kids had a blast.  You can read all about this visit here.

That first night we had severe weather and a tornado was spotted only 15 miles from where we were staying.  It was frigid the second day and I wasn’t feeling the greatest so we headed to Whole Foods and stopped in a few shops.  It was nice to just relax and go at a slow pace.

The third day we had an amazing day at the City Museum.  I can’t say enough how happy I am we added this to our trip.  It is a one of a kind attraction that is so worth visiting.  We loved it!  It snowed this afternoon and we were afraid we may not get to head to the Saint Louis Zoo, which we all wanted to see again.  To read about our adventures at the City Museum you can go here.

The fourth day decided since it was cold (like 19 degrees when we left the hotel) we would head back to the Science Center and visit the Planetarium, which we didn’t get to see on our first day.  The kids were beyond excited to go back.  The Planetarium show was fantastic and we again visited the kids favorite spots in the Science Center.

As we headed back to the hotel, we decided we would go see the Arch.  We drove by it everyday leaving the hotel and we were not leaving without seeing it.  It was a frigid walk, that was ever so long in the cold but we were delighted to find the under ground museum and gift shop at the bottom of the arch when we arrived.  It was Hubby’s highlight to our trip.

Our last day in Saint Louis we decided we would brave the cold, after all it had warmed up to about 40 degrees and visit the zoo.  We were properly dressed and we were so happy we did!  The kids go to ride the carrousel (which is a huge favorite since visiting Disney last summer) and we got to see everyone’s favorites: Penguins, Sea Lions and the Elephants.  It was a perfect way to spend our last day in Saint Louis.

As always, I wanted to go prepared and shopped for some basics before we left.  One thing I was beyond happy about being able to take with us was a new product from Stonyfield!  Their YoKids Smoothies.  They were the perfect size for Addie and Austin enjoyed two in one sitting.  With wanting things that would be easy to take in the van, that were also healthy, these fit the bill perfectly.

I was sent a package from my dear friends at Stonyfield to try them out and it arrived just in time.  It also had a package of 52 Things to Do in the Car deck of cards, that really came in handy (one can only play I Spy so many times).

YoKids Smoothie Facts:

  • Made with real organic fruits and veggie puree
  • Kid-friendly size
  • Healthier alternative to more processed on-the-go snacks
  • Each bottle accounts for 1/3 of kids’ recommended serving of calcium

  1. Hey we live in STL, so most likely we’d take our smoothies to the same places you did! The Zoo, City Museum, Forest Park on a nice sunny Spring day (if we ever get one!).
