I was invited to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. While Disney did shower us with lots of Disney love, I did purchase a deeply discounted conference ticket to attend. All opinions shared in my blog posts are 100% my own.
It has been about a month and a half since we returned home from Disney and the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, and honestly, I am still processing the vacation. To say it was amazing or magical would be quite the understatement. Daily my children talk about it with smiles or the occasional tear when they ask when we will be able to return. They look through our photos and smile and laugh, asking, “Remember when we did this?” or “You know, I wish I would have done that again!”
One of my favorite photos from our #DisneySMMC vacation! We made so many memories! If you are vacationing this summer check out the #ShareForever program. #client A photo posted by Amanda Fiveash (@ourhomemadelife) on
If you are a blogger, you know what DSSMC is all about. If not, it is really a once in a lifetime opportunity Disney offers to a group of bloggers and their families each year. It is a mix of blogger education with opportunities to experience Disney unlike any other vacation. To be honest, you are treated like royalty.
I personally found out about Disney Social Media Moms back in 2012 and followed along a few bloggers journey on social media. I loved reading about their experiences, seeing their photos and especially being able to see their families take part.
Then a few years ago, Disney starting taking a piece of the action to three cities throughout the summer months for what is called Disney Social Media Moms On-the-Road. I was delighted to have attended in Chicago last summer.
Each spring however, there is a flurry of talk on social media awaiting for the invitations to be extended. It is truly a mix of excitement and anxiousness. Those that have attended in the past yearn for another invitation to return. Those that have not attended wish that somehow, they will be one of the few that were noticed. Unlike most conferences, there is no place to apply to attend. There is not a date tickets go on sale. Disney’s social media team lead by Leanne along with Maria from BSM Media make the selections and extend invitations.
Two years ago, I put it out there that attending Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was on my blogging bucket list, although I truly NEVER expected it to happen. I am so small in comparison to others. I haven’t blogged a regular routine the last year, but in March, somehow that invitation landed in my inbox. It took me a few minutes to recover, and I might have shed a tear or two. Then I giggled. I could already picture the children’s faces when we would share with them the news.
The registration filled up faster than ever before. The invitation clearly said spaces were limited and it would fill up, but I never imagined that it would be full in about three days. I was so happy I decided to take the leap and register, not knowing if Bryan would be able to come with me. Once I registered, I started reading every blog post I could find to prepare me for the event. But truly, nothing could have touched the experience. It was so much more than I ever imagined.

We created so many amazing memories that wouldn’t have been possible without attending. I met so many bloggers I had only seen or known of online. I was inspired by the speakers, other bloggers and reinvigorated to continue blogging. I took a walk down memory lane of experiences of my own childhood visits to Disney, those that I shared with my family growing up, those that Bryan and I shared as a couple and then the ones we have made so far as a family. I was and am beyond grateful for the invitation and the experience.
