The Environmentally Friendly Way to Eliminate Clogged Drains

Everyday I’m thankful my husband is the kinda guy who can pretty much fix anything.  He is very much a diy-er and loves to build and tinker with things.  In our starter home, we had the chance to do a lot of remodel and learn a lot from it.  Now that we have added four children to the family, and upgraded our housing size, he’s been in the process of slowly remodeling the 1970’s ranch style home we are in.

With the days being busy, he doesn’t always have time to focus on the *little* things when someone (ahem, me) thinks they need to be taken care of.  Clogged drains are something we seem to deal with on a bi-monthly basis.  I’m not joking!  I think with all the hair I lose daily I should have been bald a long time ago but somehow it’s not all gone, yet.  The kids love to take showers and baths with their favorite toys and I can’t tell you how many tragedies we’ve had due to them wanting to swim in the drains.  The kids may shed a tear over their lost possession, and we might shed a tear over knowing there will be yet another clogged drain to deal with.

If you are like me, you detest taking a shower in any standing water, it makes my skin crawl.  When I heard about the TubShroom, I knew I wanted to try it out.  Simple and yet brilliant.

Austin helped me easily change out the bathroom sink drain.  It’s amazing what the pipes are so full of, yuck.  After we cleaned out the drain, the Tubshroom was installed in about three seconds.

Same thing with the tub drain, the longest part was actually pulling out the old drain, cleaning out the nasty stuff in the drain and then it was one, two, three and finished.

What makes the TubShroom unique?

The design is made so the it sits in drain and catches all the hair-human or pet hair, and any little toy so there are no more casualties.  No more clogged drain!  And now I don’t have to bug hubby to unclog the sink or the tub.  The TubShroom is a cylinder shaped device that feels like it is made out of high quality silicone that allows the water to drain with optimal flow but catches anything that flows down the drain.  It catches the hair so that it wraps around the cylinder shape and you can quickly and easily clean off the hair and place the TubShroom back in place.  To take a bath and close the drain, you simply cover it with a StopShroom.

How it is environmentally friendly?

Once you install the TubShroom, it makes cleaning out hair and anything that can clog your drain a snap.  No more harsh chemicals needed to be poured down the drain!  It’s that simple.  I actually had broken down and purchased said chemicals because our normal vinegar and baking soda wasn’t cutting it a few weeks ago.  I’m ever so thankful that I found TubShroom and won’t be needing those anymore (truthfully, they didn’t even unclog the drain).

You can find TubShroom online from Amazon or purchase them instore in Bed Bath and Beyond or Target.  They come in a variety of fun colors or the Chrome edition I installed in my sink and bathtub.  It’s such an inexpensive solution that is environmentally friendly way to eliminate clogged drains!
