Being a frugal shopper and striving to save money will always be a large part of me.  That part of my personality I inherited from my beautiful mother.  I use to be an avid coupon shopper, and while I still do use coupons, I am no where near as diligent as I once was.  In 2015 I am going to once again tighten my belt and work hard on saving money.  In the last few years, lots of new ways to save money have appeared.  Lots of fun ways!

I have shared with you many times about the awesome service offered by Walmart Family Mobile and here are a few ways I use their service to save me additional money.

Top Apps to Save and Make You Money

Swagbucks I have been a long time Swagbucks user online and this is one of my favorite ways to earn free Amazon gift cards (or other giftcards, even Paypal) for doing things you already do daily.  You are rewarded with Swagbucks when you use their online search engine.  Now you can also earn Swagbucks for watching videos on your phone or completing other tasks.  There is a limit of 50 Swagbucks per day that you can earn per device, but those actually add up very quickly. It only takes 450 Swagbucks to cash out for a $5 Amazon gift card.  And you can also earn Swagbucks when you shop through their links online.

Ibotta – Seriously one of new favorite apps!  Between November and December I made $106.25!  Seriously cool!  Once you download the Ibotta app, you unlock rewards by completing easy tasks and then save on lots of great products you purchase.  One of the reasons I love the app is they frequently have natural, organic and even allergy-friendly savings!  You can choose from a variety of stores including supercenters like Walmart and others as well as grocery stores like Krogers and Whole Foods.

Before you shop, choose any of the products that you plan to buy and click on the earning opportunities. Sometimes these are watching videos, taking a quick survey, or reading a little information.  They take only moments to complete.

Once you have completed the task, it unlocks the reward (a coupon).  If you are unsure of the product, scan it in store to verify, it will tell you if your product matches.  After you make the purchase, then you verify each item on your receipt.  You will follow the onscreen prompts and then it will have you snap a photo of your receipt.  It can be a mere matter of minutes to a few hours and the amount is added to your account.  It is really simple and the payouts are really great! You can redeem your cash in the form of gift cards or Paypal in as little as $10.  You will want to join a team (by joining a friend’s link or mine 🙂 and then connect with your friends to share in the teamwork bonuses offered.

Checkout 51 app – This app is very similar to iBotta, you select offers (there are usually some for fresh produce, milk and bread), make your purchase and then upload a picture of your receipt. Once your account reaches $20, then you are mailed a check.

Savings Catcher app – This is an app that you can use when you shop at Walmart to capture your receipt and if there is a sale on items you have purchased during your shopping trip, you will be given the difference back.  If you have the funds added to their card, at times you can double your cash!  It is simple, just scan the QR code on the bottom of the receipt and it will tell you if anything was on sale locally.  That is it!  Money back in your pocket.  (Just a note, the app is just Walmart and it is actually part of the app.)

Jingit app – This is a fairly new app that pays you to watch ads online. You also earn money for scanning items at Walmart and answering a couple of questions. You won’t get rich but it is really simple and adds up along the way.

To cash out, you can choose from various egift cards with a maximum earning limit of $15 per week.

RetailMeNot app – Most of us are familiar with RetailMeNot.com and the app is just the mobile form. It allows you to browse all the best coupons available, get deal alerts while shopping, and find thousands of online and in-store coupons. I always check the RetailMeNot app or site before making a purchase to see if there is a current coupon code available.

All of these are simple apps you can download right onto your mobile device from the Google Play Store app.  I love that all of these apps don’t require a large amount of work and thanks to my Walmart Family Mobile Service, I can have access to them on the go, anytime before or while I shop.

If you are looking to save extra money this month, consider making the switch to Walmart Family Mobile’s NEW 4G LTE service.  They have a large variety of phones, in many price ranges with many currently on roll-back at Walmart.  This is a new Samsung Galaxy Avant that was $149.00 (WAS $199.99) that I am trying out this month.  I am a huge fan of Samsung phones and love how many features in has in common with my Galaxy S3.

For only $29.88 a month (for the first line) you get an Unlimited Talk, Text & Data service plan which includes up to 500MB of 4G LTE data. That allows me to use my saving apps freely when I am on the go as much as I want.  If you are new to Walmart Family Mobile, you will also need to purchase the $25.00 starter kit that includes your phones sim card.

So those are a few ways I am planning to get myself in gear and work on savings this month!  Every little bit makes a difference and these apps are so easy to use!

Now that I have shared how I plan to save a little extra this month, I would love for you to share, do you use any apps to save money?
