I had heard Laura over at Heavenly Homemakers rave about Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil many times. I visited their site, many times and just found myself thinking surely there wasn’t that much difference in their coconut oil versus other companies? Really? After visiting their site many times and looking over and over at the products, I made the plunge to give them a try. I eagerly awaited my order. If you have read any of my other reviews, you know my children are just as, if not more excited than Mama to open the boxes that arrive. They have so much fun pulling items out the boxes. Addie responds to almost every product that comes out, “Isn’t that so nice!”
I would absolutely have to agree! Once I opened my coconut oil I used it in several recipes and loved it! I love using it in place of
butter in recipes for baking. Hubby is not really all that fond of coconut products but has really enjoyed several items I have made using it. He doesn’t know it is even there. (My children love coconut, unsweetened at that! We compared the bulk coconut we had purchased at Whole Foods to what we had ordered and there was no contest the difference in freshness). We ordered shredded coconut and coconut chips, as well as coconut flour and a few other grocery items.
So how have I used my coconut oil? Well I made this Crustless Coconut Pie and I used it to make these Swirl Bars (both can be made gluten-free). Make sure to come back next week as I will be sharing how to make your own homemade lip moisturizer and body scrubs with it too! Who doesn’t love the smell of coconut? Even better is the feel of coconut oil on your skin!
Addie has been potty training, seriously potty training finally and is doing great! She enjoys being a big girl so much, or maybe it is all the praise, some days she wants to go every fifteen minutes. Her little hands are quite dry. At night after she is sleeping I have been putting coconut oil on them and it works wonders! It isn’t just for cooking.
