You may or may not have noticed, but there are many changes happening here on the blog. Most you will not be able to see right away but you may have noticed that thefrugalgreenishmama.com is redirecting to ourhomemadelife.com. You see, although the name, The Frugal Greenish Mama was and is fitting, it was a name that I didn’t give much thought to when I started blogging.
Back in 2010, when I started TFGM, I didn’t intend to blog for anyone but myself. Little did I know that I would have such a fun road ahead. It has been a great journey and along the way I have learned much about myself and others. I have wanted to change the name of the blog for quite some time but rebranding (as it is known to bloggers) is actually quite a long process but one I decided was a chapter I had finally reached.
In June of this year, I had the opportunity to be invited by Disney to attend one of their three Disney Social Media Moms On-the-Road events. I had never been and didn’t really know what to expect. I was very motivated by the speakers and Disney’s social media team. Now that I have allowed it to really sink in, I wanted to share with you the impact it had on myself and the road ahead for the blog.
Key Points from DisneySMMoms
- Disney is built on emotion and storytelling, so should your blog.
- Share what YOUR story is about.
- Would you follow your blog?
- Don’t focus on the number of readers, focus on the relationship you have with your readers.
- Be inspired, like a child.
There was so much inspiring information presented at DisneySMMoms in Chicago. I attended in hopes of learning, growing and connecting. While the information was being presented, I knew without a shadow of a doubt I wanted to make changes to my blogging and quickly. Now that it has had time to really soak in, I have realized the areas I need to make adjustments and have already set the ball in motion.
Would you follow your blog?
That question resounded with me the most. Gulp, maybe because of the answer! During the first two years of blogging, I loved blogging. Back then, my photos were terrible, I didn’t know anything about SEO and didn’t really know what brands were looking for but I loved blogging. I would have followed THAT blog! I had a voice, a blogging schedule and wrote for myself, shared my passions. Now, I feel that I have lost my voice amongst sponsored posts. Let me re-phrase that.
They are my words, but not my passion.
have had lost my passion for blogging. Blogging now has become my job, which I feel ever so blessed, as it gives me the chance to stay home with my babies but in the mean time I had lost my spark. After taking most of the summer off, I am ready to re-focus. While all the sponsored content will not disappear, it will be far more selective. There are some changes you will begin to see immediately, and others will take place gradually over time.
DisneySMMoms helped re-ignite my spark and for that I am ever so thankful!
For those of you that have stuck with me through all the bumps in the roads, I want to say thank-you! Thank-you and welcome to our new home on Our Homemade Life!
